Here in Chicago for 5 weeks but in the beauty industry for over 65 years, Kryolan enjoyed its starting popularity as professional theater makeup. Currently, Kryolan has evolved to a global beauty brand and appeals to all walks of life from everyday women, pagent winners, and Queens! Kryolan is the new place for beauty lovers and beginners.

Ulrike Bege, the Reginal Sales Manager took me on a tour of the Lincoln Park store and inside the world of Kryolan.

Mrs Windy City: Tell us about the evolution of Kryolan
Ulrike Bege:
Over the years we have devoplved to beauty, TV, film industry, special effects,
as well as everyday beauty. People trust Kryolan for professional make-up to
everyday beauty.

We carry a range of high-definition makeup, used in
television as well as photograpghy. It is very situable for everyday beauty; it
gives you a fantasic flawless look, feeling like a second skin, like silk.

Mrs Windy City: What is high-definition make-up used for?
Ulrike Bege:
This is what we use in televison and use with Miss Universe and Miss USA, we
used it last year and the year before that (for the pagents). It’s the texture
you want to get that flawless clarity on tv as well as high-def.

Ulrike showed me the different types of mediums and textures as well as shades of high-defintion make-up. What amazes me is that Kryolan has over 120 shades in their foundation line. They rarely discontinue due to Kryolan being an independent manufactuer, one of the last worldwide. This is great for the customer, because we get the savings!

Mrs Windy City: What about color?
Ulrike Bege:
We have a waterbased make-up which is often used in theaters. We also have an
innovation wall with the latest and the greatest. For example: a cream liner,
which came out recently and has a great texture and extreme staying power. We
also have a lipstain, which goes under your lipstick and gives it staying power.
“Living pigment” is a new product and is a pure pigment that can be added to any
medium. You can add to an eyeshawdow, lipgloss, a foundation and an airbrushed
face.

Also Kryolan supplies stage make-up to local Chicago Theater Houses like Steppenwolf, Shakespear, and the Joffrey Ballet.

Mrs Windy City: How is Kryolan different from other brands?
Ulrike Bege:
Professional make-up (Kryolan) is highly pigmented. Meaning it has to give you
the same intensity on dark skin as it has to be on light skin. We also have two
special lines, Derma Color, a medical make-up line. It targets everything from
birth marks, vitiligo to hyper pigmentation, discolorations, stretch marks and
tattoos. The second line is derma-color light, it is a lighter version but more
on the beauty side, containing vitamin E, avocado oil, and more ingredients.

To be a professional brand, Kryolan is easy on your pockets. Some price points: Eye shadow for $8.25, pallets of blush for $23.65, and liquid foundation for $14.74. They will color match your foundation for free and professionally apply your make-up for an event for $45.

Your children can even get in on the fun. Kryolan offers classes and seminars which includes kits for learning.
-Halloween
-Bridal
-Eyebrow
-Drag
-Special effects
As well as professional training, basic and advance classes.

Kryolan is also a prominent feature and part of the winning package on RuPaul’s Drag Race television show. I can go on and on about the products and the price points but only you can see for yourself. Get a free consult, buy products, and welcome Kryolan to our wonderful city.

Sarah Jessica Parker says “what?” to SATC prequel

A couple of weeks ago, I reported some rumors that there would be a prequel to SATC through Candace Bushnell's book 'The Carrie Diaries' and hermove from Connecticut to NYC in 'Summer and the City.' (releasing April 26th) Now Sarah Jessica Parker has commented (via Pop Eater):

Finally, Parker addressed rumors that a third 'SATC' movie would actually be a prequel based on Candace Bushnell's upcoming book 'Summer and the City' -- starring Blake Lively or Miley Cyrus as a young Carrie Bradshaw.

"I was like, 'Wha-a-a-a-t?'" she said. "I don't think we can pretend to go
back. It's creating two histories. It's like, 'Oh I didn't know that about
Carrie Bradshaw.'"

Blake Lively also said:
"No, that's not true. I'm a huge fan of the show and a huge fan of
Sarah Jessica Parker but unfortunately-well, fortunately-I'm starting this movie
['Hick']," she stated.

Sarah JP also spoke about a THIRD SATC movie:

"I would go back," Parker revealed. "I think there's one more story to tell. I
know there is." The actress, who also executive produced the first two 'SATC'
movies, thinks there is still life in the story of four best friends living in
New York City. But it might have to wait a few years."I'd definitely tell that
[third] story, and I know Michael [Patrick King, the director] would do it
right. But maybe not now. Maybe in five years, you know?" she said. The actress
explained why she'd prefer to wait: "It's not that I want to get away from
[SATC]. In a million years, who could get away from it?" Parker said. "If I'm
not scared again that's not good for me. That's literally no good for me. If I'm
not terrified and nauseous and worried the first two weeks of production, then
what's going to happen?"

I agree with SJP about creating two histories. When I read the prequel, I liked it, but also was sadden I had these two Carrie’s and could not relate to what I grew-up knowing about the TV/movie version of Carrie.

As far as a third movie in five years- no way! What would they be doing? Cashing out their 401k and visiting future retirement homes?

Hey Mrs Windy- I have a style question

Quick question: how long can I wear suede shoes?
-Kris (Atlanta)

Suede shoes are absolutely acceptable all year round! Especially in warmer weather. Style rules have changed. Most suede shoes are designed for year round wear. You wouldn’t wear a peep toe suede bootie in the winter with the snow so the only way would be spring/summer. Also suede gets ruined in slush and salt if you live in a wintery area like Chicago. My absolute no no is if your feet are sweating in the shoes. To me, that means they are a colder weather shoe. Here are some great suede options…..

Blake Lively to star as the younger Carrie Bradshaw?

News is floating around today that:

Grazia magazine reports that 'SATC' creator Michael Patrick King has expressed
interest in bringing Candace Bushnell's Carrie Bradshaw-centered prequels to
life. The books focus on Carrie's teenage years in 'The Carrie Diaries' and her
move from Connecticut to NYC in 'Summer and the City.'….studio execs are eyeing
'Gossip Girl' star Lively to fill a younger Carrie's Manolos. No word yet on who
they are looking at for the rest of the gang."There are no plans to bring SJP
and the other girls back together in the old format," said an insider close to
the project. "The prequel is about breathing new life into the story and
exploring Carrie's first few months in NYC and the beginning of her relationship
with an older man."However, the project and casting are just rumors -- for
now.

So what do you guys think? Is Blake too old to play a young 18 year old Carrie even though she plays Serena on Gossip Girl? Do you think she could effectively play Carrie?

I read Candace Bushnell's 'The Carrie Diaries' and thoroughly enjoyed the book even though it totally differed from the famous Sex and the City series. I was expecting the facts that we learned about Carrie through the tv series to be in the book. Carrie - fashion wise was no different in the book but her family dynamic and her life growing up was very different but it wasn’t geared for us women who already knew Carrie but rather for the teenagers to help them become familiar with Carrie.

Will older women want to see this movie with Carrie as an adolescent? I believe so, I think anything that is Sex and the City related will garner support in the masses. Still undecided about a possibility of Blake being casted.

UPDATED: The Girl who cried.... naked

I am so sick of Kim Kardashian crying naked.... first it was the sex tape ( and 5 million payout) , then it was Playboy (where she said her mother convinced her to do it), then Harper's Bazaar (she didn't complain) and finally W magazine's "Art" issue. In that issue she was nude nude nude, covered only in silver paint.

On her new show Kourtney and Kim take New York she cries AGAIN that she was taken advantage of and was misled for the W shoot.

"Oh my God, I'm more naked that I was in Playboy," Kim told her sisters. "I'm so
mad right now. [The magazine] promised I would be covered with artwork — you can
see the nipples!

"The whole concept was sold to me that nothing would be
seen," she continued. "I feel so taken advantage of ... I've definitely learned
my lesson. I'm never taking my clothes off again, even if it's for Vogue."

Now why in the world would you strip butt naked for a cover that would be "covered with artwork"? If that was the case honey they would have let you use tape to cover your nipples and you could have worn panties.....

Girl bye!!! I'm tir
ed of her calling naked and everyone
falling for it.

Fab Find: JAPONESQUE Lash Placement Kit

First I did not know Urban Outfitters sold JAPONESQUE products. Where have I been? After getting over that shock I have also found they sell a nifty
JAPONESQUE Lash Placement Kit. In the past I have put my lashes on by hand and one side always came out better than the other. I would get mad and rip them off. But now :

The Soft-Touch applicator grips false eyelashes and precisely follows every
contour of the eyelid. Apply eyelash adhesive to the band and gently press. Use
the kit to also to remove false eyelashes and store them in the matching
anti-bacterial stand for re-use
