Global Glam Spring / Summer 2010 Collection at the W Hotel Lakeshore

On Thursday I was invited to the fabulous unveiling of the latest in Jet Set Style with the Global Glam Spring / Summer 2010 Collection at the W Hotel Lakeshore.

After being invited I wondered: what is this Global Glam about? I soon learned that last fall W Hotels unveiled its first-ever exclusive fashion and accessories collection and this party was for the second season.



When I walked in I was immediately greeted by a model standing on a platform in a lovely long, black maxi dress, Upon entering the party I saw the host Kelli Zink in her cute black sheer dress and Giuseppes and Jillian Harris (Bachelorette fame) in a Dennis Basso dress and Jimmy Choos (Kelli Zink twitpic)






After sipping my champagne and grabbing a couple sushi pieces I looked over the collection of accessories on the table. These pieces were absolutely stunning and cohesive. These stores are for the girl who knows the must have pieces of the season and know that W Hotel- The Store will provide. As models walked around showing off the pieces and talked to party goers I learned that the designers were: Rebecca Minkoff, Dolce Vita, DANNIJO, Daniel Benedict, Rebecca Weissman, Vitamin A, Sonia Spencer, Susan Daniels, Suzanna Dai, Kendra Scott, and WiNK.

Chicago's H&M Fashion Against AIDS launch party

I had the fabulous opportunity to attend the Chicago H&M launch party for their 2010 Fashion against AIDS on Wednesday. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with so much energy. There were models that had on the key pieces of the line (pics) while there were passed appetizers and delicious drinks abound.

I immediately ran to the "go to" dress that was in everyone's hands


It did not flatter my figure....it made me look like a leopard linebacker! LOL... It seems that it was only made for stick figure women.


I then tried on the deniem dress... I would have loved it if it was in a darker hue.



Finally I tried on the backless, string top... divine! I found a winner out of the collection.




Go and try on the pieces...remember 25% of sales will be donated to youth HIV/AIDS awareness projects!

Glass Slipper Project to receive 500 dresses from Bridal shop tax cheater

 

 

A bridal shop owner has been ordered to play fairy godmother to hundreds of teenage girls as restitution for cheating on his company's sales tax returns.

Dale Buziecki, 64, president and owner of House of Brides Inc., pleaded guilty Monday in Cook County to filing fraudulent sales tax returns for his stores in Glen Ellyn, Norridge, Schaumburg, Oak Lawn and Chicago.

As part of his punishment, the Wheaton man was ordered to donate 500 formal dresses a year for the next three years to the Glass Slipper Project, a nonprofit that collects and distributes prom outfits for Chicago-area high school students who can't afford them.

The photo-driven tome, which will be released May 18 in both paperback ($19.95) and as a hardcover deluxe edition ($29.95), features a 2-D tour of the movie-making process, with behind-the-scenes stories from writer and director Michael Patrick King and Sarah Jessica Parker, as well as Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis.

We haven't seen the book yet, but it reportedly includes "a look at the challenges of filming in both New York and Morocco and the work that went into choosing the locations and building the sets." And, of course, it covers the fashion in the film. (How could it not?)

Every single look that Carrie wears in the movie is detailed in the 500-page book that includes commentary by Parker herself. And if that weren't in-depth enough, each item of clothing is labeled with its brand. A must for veteran "SATC" junkies.

Trend alert: boyfriend watches

Big, gaudy, over the top, shiny gold boyfriend watches are the rage right now!  I complained and complained and found a reasonable watch.  Let's be clear, being a recessionista in this world I could not afford the Michael Kors (pic) that I really wanted.  $250 is extreme for me when I could buy a pair of shoes but I found mine at Target.  Yup target.  Rihanna beat us all because she actually started rocking her gold men's watch a couple years back.

1920's murder mystery party

I went to a 1920's themed murder mystery party on Saturday.... so much fun! I guessed the correct killer!

Giorgio Armani designs Alicia Keys tour costumes

Fabulous and stunning! I love Swarovski crystals, sequins and beading and Armani gave nothing but that in these costumes.

The designs embody who Alicia is without taking her out of her element. I can't wait to see the real costumes in action during her tour.

Tea with Oprah

Well not exactly with Oprah! A girl can wish. I was invited to a private blogger and writer party hosted at the Oprah store on Monday. To be a Chicago native it's funny that I have never visited the store.







I love it! Each section focused on a theme that was very special to Oprah. Her work with Africa, the Girls school she built and even a look inside her closet where you could buy her clothes. You could walk in Oprah shoes literally!

We enjoyed tea from Talbott, cookies from vegan Karyn's Restaurant, and Work of Art cupcakes. Chef Art Smith signed his book for his adoring fans.

I met some new faces (including the Chicago woman to know Candance Jordan) as well as mingled with some familiar faces and Chicagonista team members.

Jessica Szohr in Versace brought it! Its eceltic...its divine, it fits the theme of the Gala




I was disappointed in this Calvin Klein, Zoe Saldana wore... blah!




Vera Wang and Mila Kunis, both in Vera Wang both looked hot!




Coco Rocha gave me life! The color and the print of this Zac Posen dress was stunning. Best dressed for me.

Blake Lively in Marchesa stole my heart and made me want to tone my legs! She tied for the best dress in this hot number. It was daring and age appropriate... she looks stunning
