On Saturday here in Chicago at the Harold Washington Library, Pepsi gave a cool seminar on their new contest, the Pepsi Refresh Project (www.refresheverything.com), this project will award $20 million in grants this year to fund ideas that can help change the world, based on consumer submissions.
This event was open to local high school students starting off with an introduction by Asher Roth. Asher talked to the students about the importance of following their dreams and their potential to create positive change in their communities and beyond. Fonzworth Bentley introduced the students to the Pepsi Refresh Project. Individuals can apply for grants to benefit a variety of projects and site visitors can vote for the best ideas for funding.
Divine Bradley of Dosomething.org lead the students through lessons about brainstorming, writing, and presentation skills necessary to bring their great ideas to life. Pepsi also hosted an Idea Lounge, open to the public, where people could log-on to RefreshEverything.com and vote for the ideas they think deserve to win Pepsi Refresh grants. They also worked with Divine to learn more about creating and promoting ideas that will refresh their communities.
At the end they were treated to a performance by Ryan Leslie!
Hit up www.refresheverything.com and follow the submission rules to submit your idea or vote!
